Writ petition for CBI enquiry into Civil Supplies dept
Kochi, Mar 19 (UNI) A public interest petition was filed in the Kerala High Court today, seeking a CBI enquiry into the alleged offences commmitted by the officers of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation, including the Managing Directors from 1995 to 2005.
The petition will come up for admission before the Court tomorrow.
Petitioner R Gokul Prasad from Palakkad contended that a judicial commission of enquiry into the corruption and malpractices in the civil corporation during 1995 to 2005 had in its report on September 30, 2005, said the Corporation sustained a loss of Rs 33.85 crore.
It said an investigation by the CBI or any other agency from outside the State was necessary for locating the persons responsible for the loss.
The report recommended entrusting the CBI for investigating and filing criminal charges against the culprits.
While the media reported in October last year that the State Government had ordered a CBI probe, no action had been taken by the CBI, the petitioner contended.
