UPA Govt to distribute Rs one lakh crore to textile mill workers

Ujjain, MP, Mar 19 (UNI) Union Textile Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela today said the UPA Government is distributing Rs one lakh crore among labourers of closed textile mills in order to improve their condition.

Mr Vaghela, while addressing a programme to distribute rehabilitation package to about 1,200 labourers in this district's industrial town Nagda, claimed that this government was the first one to think about the welfare of textile mill labourers.

A rehabilitation package of Rs one lakh crore had been sanctioned for the purpose.

Mr Vaghela distributed Rs 5.80 lakh to the workers of a closed textile unit.

On the occasion, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kantilal Bhuria drew Mr Vaghela' attention towards starting other industries in the Malwa region.

Madhya Pradesh Opposition Leader Jamuna Devi, MLA Prem Chand Guddu and other people's representatives and prominent citizens were present.

INTUC office-bearers submitted a memorandum demanding refund of Rs 1,000 taken by BMS office-bearers on the promise to provide rehabilitation package.
