Lok Sabha adjourned for the day over the Nandigram issue

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day today, after passing three major Bills in just 15 minutes, amid the Opposition din over the Nadigram violence issue.

Earlier, the House was adjourned first at the commencement of the day's sitting till noon. As soon as the House reassembled at 1200 hrs the BJP members trooped into the well of the House, again, demanding the dismissal of the Union and West Bengal governments calling them ''murderers''.

Despite Deputy Speaker Charnjit Singh Atwal's, who was in the Chair, repeated assurances that he will listen to their demands, the Opposition members remained unrelenting.

The Lok Sabha passed The National Tax Tribunal Bill, 2007, Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill and National Rural Employment Guarantee (Extension to Jammu and Kashmir) Bill, a slogan-shouting Opposition nothwithstanding.

The agitated Opposition raised slogans like ''Kisano ki hatyari sarkar barkhast ho'' (Dismiss the government responsible for murdering the farmers).

Later, the Chair adjourned the House for the day.

Earlier, at the commencement of the day's sitting at 1100 hrs the Opposition members trooped into the well of the House seeking the suspension of the Question Hour and debate over police firing in Nandigram.
