Kanpur hospital where Woolmer was born condoles his demise
Lucknow, Mar 19 (UNI) People in the industrial city of Kanpur this morning made a beeline in front of the hospital where Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was born in 1948, soon after the news of his death in the Carribeans last night made headlines.
The cricket fraternity in Uttar Pradesh expressed shock over the death of Woolmer. Chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav along with several senior cricketers also expressed their condolences last night.
In Kanpur, doctors and employees of McRoberts Hospital, where Robert Andrew Woolmer was born on May 14, 1948, held a condolence meeting this morning.
Woolmer got an opportunity to visit this hospital on March 14, 2005 when Pakistan were touring India. He also visited the hospital in 1996 when he came with the South African team to India. Woolmer's sister still lives in Kolkata.
The hospital management today cancelled all the operations to be held at the operation theatre named after Woolmer.
Woolmer made his first-class debut for Kent in 1968.
