Jammu, Mar 19 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir CPM Secretary Mohammad Yosuf Tarigami today said the state coordination committee which was formed after the 2002 assembly elections should be revived to tackle the present political crisis in the state.

Mr Tarigami, who met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently in the wake of the present political crisis, in a press statement, said, the political crisis in the state is not in the interests of the people of the state both at the developmental and political front when the present peace process is going on.

''The only reasonable way out, to get out of the present impasse is to revive J&K coordination committee in the state, an institutional body which was formed after the 2002 assembly elections. This is what I have told Dr Singh when I called on him.'' he added.

Mr Tarigami said it is important to resolve such issues through institutional mechanism rather than through controversies among political parties.

After the 2002 assembly elections J&K coordination committee was formed to oversee the functioning of the government to provide a forum for discussions on important matters to help the government take collective decisions.

It was envisaged that all the coalition partners-PDP, Congress, CPM, People''s Democratic Forum (PDF), Panthers Party and one independent each from Ladakh and Kargil would get representation in the committee according to the number of legislators.
