Congress plays government for "failure" to utilise welfare schemes
Kahalgaon, Mar 19 (UNI) The Congress today charged the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in the state with ''failing '' to utilise the fund, released by the Centre to carry out several welfare schemes for the poor.
Party genreral secretary Digvijay Singh alleged that foodgrains provided by the Centre for distribution among the poor were being blackmarketed by the officers under patronage of their political masters.
'' Various mass contact programmes, launched by the party at village level, have begun yielding results as the popularity of the Congress in the state has witnessed upward trend during the past few months, '' he maintained.
Asked about the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Mr Singh said his party was contemplating contesting all the seats in the state but the final decision in this regard was yet to be taken.
