Centre approves eight new tiger reserves projects
New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) The Government has decided to grant " in principle approval" to new eight tiger reserves spread over seven states, Minister of State for Environment and Forests Namo Narain Meena told the Lok Sabha today.
The decision is being taken in line with the recommendations of the Steering committee of the Project Tiger inits 37th meeting held on January 23, 2003, he said in a written reply.
The cost on management of new tiger reserves would be based on proposals fromstates, emanating from reserve specific "Tiger Conservation Plan" prepared as per the provisions of the Wildlife (Protecton) Act, 1972, Mr Meena said.
These new eight tiger reserves are Anamalai-Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuaries spread over in Tamil Nadu and kerala, Udanti and Sita Nadi Wildlife Sancturies in Chhattisgarh, Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary in Orissa, Kaziranga National Park in Asom, Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary in Chhattisgarh, Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary and Anshi National Park in Karnataka, Sanjay National Park and Sanjay Dubri wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh and Mudumalai Wildlife sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, he added.
