Kolkata, Mar 18 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee today met Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi at Raj Bhavan and held detailed discussion with him on the Nandigram issue.

Though the details of the hour-long meeting was not yet known, it was expected he apprised the Governor of ''steps the state government took at Nandigram to restore the rule of administration there as the area remained cut off'' from other parts of the state for nearly two months following disturbances.

''It was nothing but a constitutional obligation of the Chief Minister to brief the Governor after any major issue,'' party sources here told UNI and ruled out any other implication of the meeting.

Incidentally, Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi issued a stronly worded statement immediately after March 14 massacre of 14 people at Nandigram.

Though the opposition parties welcomed his move and described his statement as 'bold', some of the ruling party members, including state Transport Minister Subhas Chakraborty questioned his ''authority'' in this regard and objected to his comments.
