Mizoram govt bans import of Myanmarese livestock
Aizawl, March 18 (UNI) Mizoram has banned the entry of all Myanmarese livestock into India following the report of outbreak of bird-flu in Myanmar the neighbouring country.
The decision had affected the market, as about 70 per cent of the livestock meant for the state's consumption, came from Myanmar in cheaper rates.
According to animal husbandary department officials, police and veterinary officials were keeping a strict vigil at Zokhawthar, border trade point on Mizoram's side, to prevent trade of animals from Myanmar.
The officials said the ban had been imposed since last week.
