Mah Cong leaders of UP origin to campaign in UP poll

Lucknow, Mar 18 (UNI) Congress leaders of Maharashtra with their roots in Uttar Pradesh would campaign for party candidates in the forthcoming U P assembly elections.

Former Maharashtra minister and senior Congress leader Kripa Shanker Singh told reporters that hundreds of office-bearers of the Maharashtra Congress would campaign for candidates in Uttar Pradesh at the district level in the forthcoming seven-phase assembly poll.

He however, did not rule out the possibility of Bollywood stars campaigning for Congress candidates in Uttar Pradesh.

''Of course, we do not have the orchestra party the Samajwadi Party has in the form of Jaya Prada, Jaya Bachchan and Amar Singh,'' he said taking a dig at the ruling party.

He claimed if Amitabh Bachchan had the conviction, then he should tell the parents of children killed in Nithari that Uttar Pradesh had the lowest crime rate as compared to other states.

''The ad campaign is meaningless until the common man believes in it,'' he said referring to the Big B's campaign for the Samajwadi Party on TV and through hoardings.
