Jogi arrested while campaigning in Rajnandgaon
Raipur, Mar 18 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi was arrested this evening at Virendra Nagar while campaigning for the Lok Sabha bypoll in Rajnandgaon, following a warrant against him, the police said.
The warrant, issued by a local court, and he is to be brought here.
However, the police refused to divulge further details pertaining to reasons for issuance of the warrant.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Virendra Nagar and Kawardha as several Congress workers gathered there protesting against the arrest of the Congress leader, who was heading the election campaign for his party's candidate Devarat Singh, who is pitted against the BJP's Leelaram Bhojwani. Polling is scheduled for March 29.
