Chandigarh, Mar 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today assured Congress party workers they would be given due respect and honour and their interests would never be ignored.

Addressing a meeting convened here at his residence to thank the party workers for the success of Navyug Rally which was held on February 25 at Sirsa, he attributed the success of the rally to the party workers. He said Sirsa rally was the biggest ever rally held in the northern region of the country.

Mr Hooda said in the year 1997 when he was the Haryana Congress President, while analysing the defeat of Congress in the State Assembly elections of 1996, it was found that loyal and veteran party workers were ignored and new faces were given preferences.

He said he would never overlook the interests of loyal workers and at the same time would also give due respect and recognition to new party members.

The Chief Minister said as opposition parties had no issue to criticise the government, they indulge in false issues for their vested political interests. He called upon party workers to remain alert from such false propaganda of opposition parties.

He said several development works had been carried out in the last two-year tenure of present Government. The present government would undertake a number of developmental works in its five-year tenure, he added.

Later Mr Hooda held separate meetings with district level party workers and enquired about their well-being. On this occasion, the officiating President of Haryana Congress Dr Ram Prakash and Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Prof Virender Singh also addressed party workers.
