Chief Justices meeting on April 6 and 7
Phillaur, Mar 18 (UNI) In order to make the working of courts more efficient and transparent, the Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan has summoned a meeting of all Chief Justices of the High Courts on April 6 and 7 at New Delhi.
This was disclosed by Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chief Justice Vijender Jain while talking to mediapersons after laying the foundation stone of the new Judicial Complex here today.
The Chief Ministers of all the states of the country would also join the meeting called by the CJI on April 8.
Refering to computerisation in judicial courts, the Chief Justice said that the Supreme Court has set up an Apex Committee to implement this scheme in the country. He said though computerisation had been introduced in few courts, but internal linking between all courts and High Courts and all High Courts and Supreme Court was still in process.
When asked about e-filing of a case in a High Court or in any other district or sub divisional court, he said that this would take time.
Asked about the areas of conflict between the judiciary and the legislature, Justice Jain pointed out that Constitution of the country was supreme and both Parliament and Judiciary were working accordingly. "The Parliament has to make laws and Judiciary was working strictly according to the Constitution," he added.
Besides Justice Jain, others present on the occasion included Justice Mehtab Singh Gill, Chairman, Building Committeee, Punjab, Administrative Judge Uma Nath Singh and District Session Judge Inderjit Kaushik.
Adresssing a function after the foundation laying ceremony, Justice Jain announced that more than 70 percent of the courts in Punjab would be provided air conditioned new judicial complexes within a period of one and a half years.
