Woman killed, 35 injured in road accident

Barasat, Mar 17 (UNI) A 55-year-old woman was killed and 35 others were injured in an accident on NH-35-Jessor Road at Mandal gachhi in North 24 Parganas today.

They were residents of Sajirhati near New Barrackpore.

They were on a pilgrimage to Matua Mela at Thakurnagar near Bangaon in the district.

Police said the incident took place when a truck in which they were travelling overturned on the road.

The deceased was identified as Parul Mallick.

The injured were rushed to the Barasat district hospital. Nine passengers were provided first aids, hospital sources said.

Later, two of the injured were referred to city hospital, the source added.
