Volunteers of Meenava Viduthalai Vengaigal arrested

Puducherry, Mar 17 (UNI) As many as 105 volunteers of the Meenava Viduthalai Vengaigal, including 17 women were arrested when they resorted to a "rail rokko" agitation here to press their demands.

The agitators placed catamarans across the railway track at the AFT railway gate and blocked rail traffic to condemn the recent killing of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy.

They urged the Centre to refrain from supplying arms and providing training to the Sri Lankan security personnel.

They also urged the Centre to retrieve Kachatheevu from Sri Lanka and provide Rs 10 lakh as compensation and a government job to the families of the fishermen killed in the Sri Lankan Navy attack.
