TN Lottery Association urges MK to restore Raffle scheme
Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Lottery Traders Welfare Association appealed to the State Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to restore the Tamil Nadu Raffle ticket scheme and prevent a minimum of Rs 250 crore going from Tamil Nadu to the neighbouring state lottery ticket schemes annually.
Talking to newspersons here today, President Pillai Perumal and Secretary of the association P Vishakan Rajan said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the association's state-level urgent meeting here.
They said the meeting assured that if the State Government restored the scheme, the association would not sell any other state lottery tickets. The Government should restore the scheme immediately for the livelihood of about 25 lakh people, including physically challenged people, who were solely banking on the sale of lottery tickets.
They urged the Government to initiate action against those indulging in the sale of banned tickets in the State.
They also urged Mr Karunanidhi to grant them an appointment to submit a memorandum to him about their long pending issues.
