Vadodara, Mar 17 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the tiny Khakhanpur village under Umreth taluka in Anand district near here after a youth, who was allegedly set afire by his cousin and five accomplices over a family dispute, succumbed to his burn injuries at the SSG hospital today.

Sensing a possibility of violence breaking out' police had made heavy security bandobast in and around the village to ensure peaceful cremation of the mortal remains of 25-year-old Vikramsinh Chauhan.

On March 13, Chauhan was rushed to the SSG hospital with more than 90 per cent burns after his cousin Vikramsinh Ganpathsinh and five of his accomplices dragged the victim out of his house at night, mercilessly beat him up and tied him with a rope before setting him ablaze in the presence of his wife Jyotika.

The police, which had earlier registered a case of rioting and attempt to murder against the six accused, including four brothers of a Baladi family, today booked them under murder charges.

Of the six, two prime accused Vikramsinh Ganpathsinh and Rama were remanded to police custody till Monday, while four others were sent to jail after they were produced before a local court today.
