Singpo assures to check price rise of vegetables in Arunachal

Itanagar, Mar 17 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Civil Supply Minister C C Singpo has assured to initiate appropriate measures to check exorbitant price hike in vegetables in the state.

Responding to a question raised in the House during question hour yesterday by BJP MLA Bosiram Siram on escalating prices of vegetables and fruits in the Capital Complex in comparison to much lower rates in the neighbouring state, the Minister said that the matter would be taken up with the district administration and Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee responsible for fixation of prices.

Not satisfied with the minister's view that shop keepers were directed to exhibit price list, Siram doubted the price monitoring system.

Advocating local production to meet the demands, Chief Minister Gegong Apang said that huge money was drained out every day as people go to Harmuti, Narayanpur and Gohpur in Asom for marketing.

This trend has to be reversed by encouraging commercial production of vegetables, cereals and fruits UNI
