Shivraj Patil moots special grants in health R

Bangalore, Mar 17 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivaraj V Patil today favoured allocation of special grants for research and development in innovative technoligies to organisations involved in various specialised sectors.

Speaking after inagurating the 400-bedded Super Specialty Musculo Skeletal Care Hospital 'Sparsh' at the Narayana Health City premises in the city here today Mr Patil said to meet the medical needs of the increasing population there was a need to improve technology and make it available at affordable cost.

He said that the union government has earmarked certain grants with an intention to promote innovative technology which could be made available to all including poorer section in the society. He said that there were several organisations and institutions striving hard to in finding solutions for the social good and they should be provided all kind of support.

Appreciating Bangalore for having established as the IT destination of the country Mr Patil said the city had now emerging a leader in the area of Health care and promised that Centre would offer all kind assistance to sustain the growth.

The National Human Rights Commission Chairman and former Supreme Court Jusdge Mr Shivaraj Patil who also spoke on the occasion called for developing human approach in providing best service to the needy people irrespective of their caste, creed and wealth.

Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash, Opposition leader in both the houses Mr Dharam Singh and H K Patil, KPCC president Mr Mallikarjuna Kharge also spoke on the occasion.
