Safai Karmachari Panel chief visits Rly Station

Tirupati, Mar 17 (UNI) Safai Karmachari National Commission Chairperson Santosh Chowdary today expressed displeasure over salaries being paid by contractors to workers entrusted with maintenance of tracks and cleaning platforms at the railway station here.

Ms Chowdhary, who arrived here from Chennai for interacting with contract workers, instructed Railways officials to ensure minimum wages were paid by the contractor to workers besides providing uniform and minimum facilties to them.

The third party contractors were providing poor facilities to daily workers in Tirupati, she claimed.

Earlier, she interacted with the contract workers and enquired about their facilities being provided to them by the contractor.
