Rural Health services launched in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Mar 17 (UNI) In order to ensure the services of doctors and health workers in the rural areas, the Rajasthan government formed new cadre under 'rural health services' from this year.

Rajasthan Health Minister Dr Digamber Singh said in order to address the problem of absentism and reluctance on the part of the medical professionals to render their services in the rural areas the government introduced a new cadre of rural health services.

Besides, as part of the introduction of systematic and professional management of medical services in the rural areas, the govt proposed the appointment of MBAs as administraive officers under senior medicial officers in 237 panchayat samiti headquarters.

Dr Digamber Singh said one of the main problems facing the doctors and health workers in rural areas is the residential accomodation and other facilities. In order to address this problem the government has decied to take up the construction of 1748 residential accomodations spread over 325 community health centres at a cost of Rs113.28 crore in the next fiscal.

Stating that the financial year 2007-08 a milestone in the health sector the minister said the chief minister made a 36.81 percent increase in allocation to the health sector compared to last year at Rs 1454.61 crore.
