Revived Sangat Darshan gets warm response

Ratta Tibba, Muktsar Mar 17 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, swarmed by villagers on resumption of 'Sangat Darshan' Programme, today gave grants, pensions, aid and promised ample water, power and food supply as well as good governance.

Listening to the grievances of the people during the first phase of two-day 'Sangat Darshan' (meet the masses) programme held at village Midda, Mohlan, Ratta Tibba, Karam Patti and Rani Wala in his home constituency of Lambi, Mr Badal directed the district and block level functionaries to adopt a people-friendly approach. He also assured he would endeavour to revive ''Sangat Darshan'' in other parts of the state as a platform to bridge the gap between the government and people.

At village Midda, the Chief Minister disbursed a grant of Rs 46 lakh for the construction of three new roads and directed the Irrigation Department and state Tubewell Corporation to evolve a time bound plan to eradicate the problem of water logging that has been damaging the farmers' crops over the past many years.

Mr Badal also announced that all the residents in the Dhannis would be given 24 hours power supply from May 1. He also promised to give sports goods to the Youth Clubs and disbursed pension cheques to the old age beneficiaries and assured them of timely payment in future.

He listened to the grievances of Dalits, youth and women separately and reiterated his firm commitment for their uplift. He also sanctioned tubewell connections to the small and poor farmers on the priority basis. He also gave a grant of Rs 50 lakh for rural water supply and Rs 1 lakh for the Library at village Ratta Tibba.

Mr Badal disbursed a cheque of Rs 50 lakh for the lining of the water courses of village Raniwala and assured 24 hours domestic power and drinking water supply in the village. At village Mohlan, he gave Rs 1000 to a woman ''Jeeto'' and directed the Civil Surgeon Muktsar to provide her free treatment for her leg.

Likewise, he also gave pension of one month to Ms Gurnam Kaur at village Ratta Tibba from his own pocket and assured her of regular and timely pension in future.
