Over 2300 nominations filed for MCD polls on last day

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Over 2300 candidates today filed their papers on the last day for filing nominations for the April 5 MCD polls in the capital.

So far over 3200 nominations have being filed, since it opened on March 10.

According to the State Election Commission, more than 2300 nominations were filed on the last day of filing of nominations.

The huge number of candidates filing their nominations is because both the Congress and the opposition BJP released their list of candidates in the last two days.

While BJP released their second list of 89 candidates yesterday, the Congress released their complete list of candidates only this morning.

As many as 68 returning officers were engaged in recieving nominations.

The scrutiny of nominations will be held till March 19 and last date for withdrawl of nominations is March 22.

The election are to be held on April 5 and the counting will be held on April 7.
