MP Govt changing names of cetral-sponsored welfare schemes

Bhopal, Mar 17 (UNI) Leader of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi today alleged that the government was changing the name of central-sponsored public welfare schemes because of political rivalry.

Participating in the debate for budgetary demands for 2007-08 for Women and Child Welfare and Social Justice departments, Ms Devi charged the Social Justice department for neglecting implementation of welfare schemes.

She said proper care of disabled, handicapped and mentally challenged was not being taken.

She demanded deployment of trained staff for taking proper care of disabled and handicapped people besides raising scholarship for them and providing them reservation in jobs.

Initiating the debate, Mr Pradeep Jaiswal (Cong) raised the issue of less number of anganwadi buildings and demanded a policy in this regard besides increase in the honorarium of anganwadi workers.

CPI(M) Ramlakhan Sharma raised the issue of the death of a woman at a protection home in Gwalior alleging that the woman assistant of the protection home was trying to cover up the case.

He demanded that the woman assistant be immediately removed.

He also alleged that corruption was taking place in the PDS system.

Mr Lal Singh Arya (BJP) lauded the government's efforts to improve for woman and child development pointing out that a new nutrition scheme was formulated for anganwadi children, who were being provided nutritious food.

The debate was incomplete as the time schedule was over. The House will next meet on March 21.
