Mah Governor greets people on Gudi Padwa, Ugadi

Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna today greeted the people of state on the occasion of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi festivals on March 19.

In his message, Mr Krishna said ''Gudi Padwa, celebrated with great enthusiasm, marks the beginning of the New Year and the advent of spring. The day is also celebrated as Ugadi in Deccan states. The day has special significance in India, where a majority of people depend on agriculture for their livelihood.'' ''I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi. May the New Year bring joy in the lives of all people and may it bring prosperity to the farmers,'' he added.
