Legislators from rest of Maharashtra call on Governor
Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) A delegation of 20 legislators from the rest of Maharashtra today met state Governor S M Krishna and requested him to defer the implementation of a directive seeking to make good the distortions in the expenditure in the irrigation sector, which had occurred during 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, over the next three years.
The delegation of legislators from North and Western Maharashtra and Konkan met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here.
The delegation, led by Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Minister for Water Recources (Krishna Valley projects), Suresh Dada Jain (NCP) and BJP group leader Eknath Khadse, in their request said the directive would reduce the provision for the rest of Maharashtra affecting several ongoing projects in the region which are nearing completion.
In his directive to the State Government for the year 2007-2008 issued under article 371(2) of the Constitution, the Governor had directed to make good the distortions in the expenditure in the irrigation sector which had occurred during 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, over the next three years.
