EC summons DGPs and Home Secys to discuss security for UP polls
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) has summoned a high-level meeting of the Director General of Police (DGP) and Home Secretaries of nine states bordering Uttar Pradesh on March 20 in view of the coming assembly election in the northern state.
According to EC sources, the meeting will decide on ways and means to seal the respective State borders with UP to prevent the entry of anti-social elements for ensuring free and fair polling.
Besides, the meeting will also focus on security preparedness for the 'Mahasangram' in Uttar Pradesh.
The meet will be attended by the DGP and Home Secretaries from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.
