DUTA welcomes increase in retirement age of college teachers

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Delhi University Teachers' Association has welcomed the union cabinet's decision to increase the retirement age of university and college teachers from 62 to 65 years.

This had DUTA's long standing demand on the grounds that teachers begin late in their profession, a statement quoting President A D Sharma said.

In the last four years, the demand had become even more urgent due to the discriminatory, non-transparent and arbitrary policy adopted by the Delhi University authorities in granting re-employment to teachers.

DUTA demanded immediate implementation of the cabinet decision.

It also reminded the government of its other demands like restoration of third promotion to college teachers among other things.
