Council chairman asks Mah Govt to take note of monkey menace
Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) The Maharashtra Legislative Council chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh today directed the state government to include monkey in the wild animals category.
The directions were given in reply to a question asked by Sudhir Sawant, Sanjay Dutt (Cong) and others.
Forest Minister Babanrao Pachpute admitted that there is monkey menace at Tambaldeg in Sindhudurg and New Panvel.
Mr Deshmukh directed the government that the elected representatives of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg should hold a meeting on the issue of monkey menace.
Intervening in the reply to another question relating to the murder of lawyer Aruna Gore at Shahapur on February 3, the chairman directed the state government to hand over the probe of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Earlier, Minister of State for Home Siddhram Mhetre, in reply to a question by Sanjay Kelkar (BJP), informed the House that no arrest has been made so far in the case.
