CM to discuss with AMWJU over alleged rape by AR jawan

Imphal, Mar 17 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today will hold discussions with the All Manipur Working Journalists Union here over the alleged rape of a girl by a jawan of 18 Assam Rifles.

The AMWJU had urged Mr Singh to punish the jawan, who allegedly raped an 18-year-old the girl at Kotlien in Senapati district on March 13.

Meanwhile, several students and social organisations were staging demonstrations and have threatened to intensify the stir if the government fails to take any action by March 18 on the AR troops.

The AR troops had physically assaulted the mediapersons, while they were reporting the incident.

UNI
