New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The chill sweeping Delhi over the past week considerably abated today with the mercury rising sharply to 28 Degree Celsius.

With the decrease in intensity of cold surface winds the maximum temperature rose from 25.5 Degree Celsius to 28 Degree today.

The minimum also rose from 14 degree C yesterday, to 14.8 degree C.

The maximum still remained three degrees below normal, the rise in maximum temperature brought about a considerable abatement in chill sweeping Delhi over the last week.

The chill is likely to abate further in the coming days with the weathermen forecasting the increasing trend in both night and day temperatures is likely to continue over Indo-Gangetic plains during next two-three days.

The weather office has forecast a rise in maximum temperature to 29 degree and the minimum to 17 degree c tomorrow.

The met office has forecast a sunny day in Delhi during the next 24 hours.

The hot and sunny weather conditions in Delhi in the past week gave way to a wet and chilly weather on Monday as moderate to heavy rains lashed the capital, plumetting mercury by several degrees.

The rainfall led to a sharp drop in maximum temperature in Delhi to 21.3 degree, nine degrees below normal, lending a chill in the air, after nearly a week of hot and Sunny weather in the post-Holi period.
