Bangalore, Mar 17(UNI) In the wake of widespread protests across the nation against Special Economic Zones, the Centre was ready to redefine the policy, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil saide today.

Speaking to newspersons here on the sidelines of the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 400-bed musculo skeletal care hospital today, Mr Patil said the centre was willing to review the SEZ policy, intended to boost industrial activities across the country, in consultation with the state governments and farmers.

Referring to police action in Nandigram village in West Bengal in which 14 people were killed three-days ago on the issue of creation of Special Economic Zone, Mr Patil said the government was ready to hold talks with all concerned to find a solution. He said the Centre was also interested in involving industries in reviewing its SEZ policy.

Expressing regret for the unsavoury incidents that took place at Nandigram village in West Bengal, the Union Home Minister, however, ruled out any action against the state government by the Centre.

''There should be valid reason to take any action on West Bengal Government'' he said.
