Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) Cadets should cultivate the spirit of adventure and remain updated on all facets of modern war which have an impact on security, Lieutenant General Aditya Singh said today.

Addressing the cadets at the passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) here, he said as science and technology had profound impact on war, innovative methods should be used to enhance fighting capabilities.

''Peace and security are imperative for the nation,'' he said, adding as the country seeks its rightful place in the comity of nations, socio-economic development and well being of the people would remain the prime focus.

''While conventional threats across our borders remain, the emerging challenges are those which affect our economy and environment,'' he said and added 'these threats are complex and multi-dimensional challenges and young officers should have to face them with courage.'' However, this would require outstanding professionalism, a secular approach, excellent qualities and unfailing commitment.

Earlier, he reviewed the passing-out parade of the cadets led by Battalion Cadet Anand A Shirali. While complimenting them, Lt Gen Aditya said lady cadets stood equal to men cadets.

As many as 162 men and 73 lady cadets were formally inducted into the Indian Army.
