300 police personnel die on duty since 1986:Apang

Itanagar, Mar 17 (UNI) Altogether 300 police personnel died on duty since 1986 and the state government has provided employment to 154 widows on compensation ground, Chief Minister Gegong Apang informed the assembly today.

Mr Apang was responding to a zero hour discussion raised by Congress MLA Nyato Rigia.

Mr Rigia, while appreciating the state government for providing employment opportunities to the widows in the police department, asked the chief minister on his government's plan to employ widows of government servants served in other departments.

Stating that the government was also equally concerned on the fate of all those families whose bread earner had a pre-mature death, Mr Apang informed that his government was planning to recruit dependents and widows of government servants who died on duty, depending on vacancy of posts and genuineness of the candidate.
