15,000 security personnel to be deployed for Palamu by-poll

Daltonganj, Mar 17 (UNI) About 50 companies of paramilitary forces, including 15,000 security personnel, will be deployed in the March 29 by-election to the naxal-dominated Palamu Parliamentary seat.

Superintendent of Police Udayan Singh today said besides the paramilitary forces, 38 companies of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) and 1,700 police officers would be pressed into service to ensure smooth functioning of the electioneering in the seat.

The by-poll was necessitated after Mr Manoj Bhuiyan (RJD) had to relinquish the membership following the money for query scam.
