12-hour hunger strike against CWDT award

Mysore, Mar 17 (UNI) Members of the Cauvery Raitha Hitha Rakshna Samithi, Mandya, today decided to launch a 12-hour hunger strike to counter AIADMK Supremo and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's fast tomorrow in Chennai and also in protest against the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT), The members led by their leader former MP and Samithi President G Madegowda would begin fast from 0800 hrs and it would last till 2000 hrs at Silver Jubilee Park in response to Ms Jayalatithaa's demand for immediate implementation of the verdict.

Mr Madegowda said the agitation would be intensified further in Cauvery basin districts after Ugadi festival on Monday. He urged the the Union government to immediately intervene to resolve the issue.
