Visitor and business visas to Australia up by eight per cent
Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) Issuance of visitor and business visas to Australia has registered a ten and eight per cent growth, respectively last year, Ms Sonya Boylan, Second Secretary (Immigration), Australian High Commission in India, said today.
Talking to UNI on the sidelines of a workshop on Australian Visa procedures and Business opportunities organised by the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce here, she said the student visas too had registered a very high rate of growth.
''We have received about 40,000 visitor visa applications and 20,000 business visa applications last year. It's quite a large number though the tourist visas are a little bit higher than this'', she said and added this year it was expected to grow by a further ten per cent.
''We are expecting a ten per cent growth in Business and tourist visa and more on student visa this year'', she added.
