South Goa MP Churchil to contest from Navelim Assembly segment
Panaji, Mar 16 (UNI) South Goa MP Churchil Alemao, known for his outbursts against his own Congress partymen, has decided to contest from Navelim constituency on the newly-formed 'Save Goa Democratic Party' (SGDP) ticket in the upcoming assembly elections in May.
Disclosing this at a public meeting at Navelim, Mr Churchil today said he had, however, not decided when to resign from the Congress party.
Navelim is represented by his staunch rival Industries Minister Luizinho Faleiro, who is seeking a renomination from the same constituency in the coming elections.
After the United Goan Democratic Party did not consider his request for rejoining party and giving its reins to him, Mr Churchil decided to contest the assembly on SGDP ticket.
It might be recalled that a show cause notice was slapped on him recently by the GPCC ledership for his ''anti-party activities'' opposing all developmental projects of the Congress-led coalition government including North-South Expressway and international airport at Mopa in North Goa.
