Punjab govt transfers six district police chiefs

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) In yet another major reshuffle of the police department, the Punjab government today transfered 39 police officers, including a DGP ranking officer, six district police chiefs and the border range Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to an official spokesman, Mohammed Mustafa has been shifted from the important post of IGP (border range) and has been appointed IGP Rules, against a vacant post. The new IGP (border range) will be R P Meena.

Mr A P Pandey, a DGP ranking officer, has been given the charge of security with the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB).

Gautam Cheema will be the new SSP of Khanna while Devinder Singh Garcha will be the SSP of Moga. Dr Naresh Kumar, SSP Barnala and L K Yadav, SSP Bathinda, switch places. Nilabh Kishore will be the new SSP of Fatehgarh Sahib. Muktsar SSP Nageshwar Rao has been shifted to Chandigarh as AIG Provisioning. So far, no announcement has been made on the replacement of Mr Rao.

Rajinder Singh will be the IGP, Counter Intelligence with headquarters at Pathankot while Hardish Randhawa will be IGP with the Punjab Human Rights Commission. Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota has been posted as IGP, Commando at Bahadurgarh and Nirmal Singh Dhillon is DIG Chief Minister's security at Chandigarh.

Dr S S Chauhan will be DIG-cum-Joint Director Punjab Police Academy at Phillaur while K J S Pannu will be the DIG, Computer and Telecommunication. Naunihal Singh has been posted as AIG, Personnel while R N Dhoke goes to the Punjab Police Academy as Deputy Director.
