Naresh Gujral is SAD-BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha bypoll

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) Mr Naresh Gujral, son of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, will be the SAD-BJP alliances candidate for the by-election to fill the lone seat from Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said today.

Mr Badal, who is also SAD President, was authorised to name the candidate for the by-election to the Rajya Sabha at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the SAD at its meeting here on Sunday.

The seat fell vacant due to the death of senior Congress leader, Mrs Sukhbans Kaure Bhinder.

Mr Naresh Gujral, who is a PAC member of the SAD, had nsuccesfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Jalandhar.
