India concerned over rise of Taliban in Afghanistan

Shimla, Mar 16 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today expressed concern over the regrouping of the Taliban in Afghanisthan and hoped that international forces present there would crush them.

''The regrouping of Taliban forces in Afghanistan is a cause of concern and we hope international security forces present there would be able to counter them,'' he said at a press conference here.

Mr Sharma said India on its behalf was playing a significant role in re-building infrastructure in that country and was constructing roads, hospitals and schools apart from Parliament building.

''India has committed an aid of 700 million US dollars to rebuild Afghanistan,'' he added.
