I was misquoted, says Raj but remains firm on stand
Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray today claimed that his statement on the Biharis had been misquoted in a section of the press, leading to violence in Buldhana district.
Talking to reporters here, Raj clarified that what he had said was that if anybody attacked or abused a Maharashtrian, then there would be retaliation and he was firm on his stand.
He said his party's support to the Congress during Mayoral elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was limited up to the civic body and not for other places.
When his attention was drawn towards a controversy surrounding his party's corporator Supriya Pawar, who resigned as the councillor and then withdrew the same, the young leader said there were some family reasons for it.
Ms Pawar told him that she had resigned due to some misunderstanding, Raj added.
