Hubli, Mar 16 (UNI) 'Suraksha', a non-governmental organisation, will organise a cultural festival of sexual minorities of the North Karnataka region here on March 18.

Addressing a press conference here, Suraksha district organiser P R Suprima said the programme was being organised to press for their four-point charter of demands, which included putting an end to human rights violations against sexual minorities such as hijras, jogappas, kothis, double-deckers, lesbians, bisexuals, gays, homosexuals and transgenders.

The other demands were that the society should accept sexual minorities as full citizens, their family members should accept them with love and respect and put an end to discrimination against them in healthcare settings.

A public rally and cultural programmes by sexual minorities would be a part of the festival, in which about 500 delegates from all over the North Karnataka region were expected to participate, she said.
