AP police stations on red alert after Bastar attack

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Following the naxal attack on a police post at Bastar in Chhattisgarh which killed 54 policemen yesterday, police stations located on the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border at Warangal and Khammam districts were put on red alert.

Police sources said all roads leading to police stations were blocked near the border areas to prevent any large-scale attack similar to the Bastar incident.

Securitymen, with advanced weapons, were deployed on rootops of police stations and focus lights installed.

District police, currently engaged in Legislative Council elections scheduled for tomorrow, have been instructed to keep vigil on Maoist movements in the two naxal-affected districts.

Naxal-infested districts of Kurnool, Anantapur, Mahaboobnagar and Prakasam were under police surveillance.
