Yogi Adityanath resigns from BJP National Executive
New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) Yogi Adityanath, BJP MP from Gorakhpur, who made headlines by breaking down in Parliament today tendered his resignation from the party National Executive protesting against ''Uttar Pradesh party state unit which was leaving no attempt to insult him.'' The 34-year-old MP personally met BJP President Rajnath Singh this noon to hand over the resignation letter, sources close to the MP said.
In his letter, the Yogi, who is also head of the Goraksha Nath temple, said he was thankful to the BJP President for nominating him to the National Executive. However the U P BJP was sparing no effort to belittle and insult him in the state. "Under the circumstances, to continue in the BJP National Executive was neither in my own interest or of the BJP", the Yogi said in his resignation letter.
The MP, an active practitioner of Hatha Yoga, sought Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's protection against being falsely implicated in the communal riots in his home town.
