Uttarakhand Assembly passes vote on account by voice vote
Dehradun, Mar 15 (UNI) The Uttarakhand Assembly today passed the Rs 3,743 crore first vote on account for April-July 2007 of the newly-elected B C Khanduri government.
The first session of the second elected Assembly in the state witnessed uproarious scenes as Congress and BSP members indulged in slogan shouting forcing Speaker Harbans Kapoor to adjourn the house thrice.
As soon as Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) B C Khanduri presented the vote on account, Congress and BSP legislators trooped in the well of the House demanding discussion on other issues of ''vital interest''.
The House later passed the vote on account by a voice vote.
Led by Leader of Opposition Harak Singh Rawat, Congress members rose from their seats demanding discussion under rule 310 over the abduction of a trader from Ramanagar while the BSP members demanded discussion over displacement of people from Haridwar district.
The House was first adjourned at 1115 hrs for 30 minutes.
The chaos continued even after the House reassembled at 1145 hrs as the Congress and the BSP members continued shouting slogans.
The Speaker adjourned the House again for 30 minutes just after 5 minutes at 1150 hrs. The third adjournment was done from 1220 to 1245 hrs.
