Shiv Sena releases list of 58 candidates for MCD poll

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) After failure of its talks on seat sharing with the BJP for the MCD election the Shiv Sena today announced that it would field its candidates from all the 272 wards for which polls are to be held on April 5.

Releasing the first list of 58 candidates for the MCD polls, Shiv Sena Delhi chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal said to prevent a division in Hindu votes and pave way for defeat of the Congress, they had asked the BJP to leave 50 seats in the coming MCD polls for its candidates.

''However, BJP is so overconfident of winning on its own strength that it rejected Shiv Sena's offer. So, on the instruction of Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray, we have decided to field candidates from all the 272 seats,''Mr Goyal said.

The list of 58 candidates released by the sena includes 13 women.
