Shekhar Sinha appointed Rear Admiral of Western Fleet

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) The change of command at Western Fleet of Indian Navy took place today at a ceremony onboard the Indian Navy's Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat, in which Rear Admiral Anup Singh handed over command of the fleet to Rear Admiral Shekhar Sinha.

Rear Admiral Shekhar Sinha is a Sea Harrier pilot and a flying instructor, who has flown extensively from aircraft carriers Vikrant and Viraat. He has commanded both the Sea Harrier operational and fighter training squadrons of the Indian Navy, an official release here said.

His commands at sea includes - CGS Rani Jindan (during Operation Pawan), offshore patrol vessel INS Saryu, fleet replenishment tanker INS Shakti and guided missile destroyer INS Delhi. He had also held the post of the Fleet Operations Officer during Operation Parakram, the release added.
