RS adjourned for one hour over Nandigram incident

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for an hour immediately after it assembled for Question Hour today over the Nandigram incident with agitated CPI(M) and opposition BJP members trading charges.

As soon as the House assembled to take up the Question Hour, Leader of Opposition in the House Jaswant Singh got up to make a statement.

However, he was shouted down by CPI(M) member Brinda Karat who was joined by her other Party members and those from the Congress.

''Past three days in West Bengal...'' Mr Jaswant Singh said immediately after the House assembled.

However, Ms Karat interrupted, saying ''how is he raising the issue?'' She was joined by other members.

Congress members were seen waving the Question Papers, ostensibly urging the Chair to take up the Question Hour.

The noise continued for five minutes after which Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat adjourned the House till 1200 Hrs.
