New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) The CPI(M) today claimed that the decision on the police action in Nandigram was taken at an all-party meet and cautioned the Centre against ''any interference'' in the state affairs.

''If the Centre interferes in every affair of the state, what is the relevance of the principle of federalism and the spirit of the constitution,'' Party Parliamentary Group leader Sitaram Yechury told newspersons.

Welcoming the Calcutta High Court order to hold a CBI inquiry into police firing in Nandigram incident, Mr Yechury said ''We also want the truth to come out.'' Justifying the police action, he said it was done to restore civil order as no law and order existed for the past two and half months and armed gangs had sneaked into the village.

He said the Trinamool Congress, the Maoists and the Naxalites had joined hands to launch a ''political assualt with the use of arms''.

But this is not the first time that the party was facing such a crisis.

They also tried the same trick in Keshwpur but had failed, he said.

However, RSP leader and Rajya Sabha member Abani Roy denied that any decision on police action was taken at the all-party meeting.
